Resources
Workability
The Workability 1 (WA1) grant programs provide comprehensive training in work, employment placement and follow-up for high school students who are making the transition from schoool to work, independent living and post-secondary education or training. The WA1 program is funded and administered by the California Department of Education and offers special education students the opportunity to complete their secondary education while also obtaining marketable job skills for success in the modern labor market.
We Can Work
The We-Can-Work (WCW) contracts are funded by the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) to provide DOR Student Services work based learning experience, as directed by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for students with disability (SWD), ages 16-21, who are in high school, and either potentially eligible for or recipients of DOR services. The DOR Student Services work experiences consist of short-term placements either on or off campus. They are intended to be temporary placements to gain experience in the work place. They may also result in the development of any of the following: vocational direction, appropriate work attitudes, ethics, interpersonal skills, speed, and accuracy as well as some limited occupational skills.
